My dear baby Lovis.

24 years ago this morning you and I had a little trouble and sorrow but to day we are rejoycing and thanking the Lord for life and exsistence to gather for so manny other blessings. I am making you a small birthday present to day and will have ti done and give it to you next time you come home. Your Dad and myself went to town yesterday I saw Suprentendent Larson and thanked him for his kindness he been upp your way yesterday morning and he rode up on the same car that Arthur goes on and he said he sat and talked with Arthur on the way up. I have not seen Abie smoke since you left and neither have I smelled smoke on him. he is sick to day he cauphed [coughed]  all nigth long so Pa said this morning Arthur better not go out to day so I am Doctoring him to day he is upp and I cannot notice much fever on him so I hope he will be alrigth to morrow.

I got so nerveaus and worried over you after you left last Sunday when your Dad came back he said you cried all the way down to the spur I hope I did not made you feel bad if I did I am sure I did not knew it or think I did after I went to bed last Sunday nigth I felt still worried over you but I finaly went to sleep and I dont know just how long I slept but I thaugth I heard our Phone ring but as I was not sure I waited to hear it ring again but it did not ring so I got upp and asked Central if she had rung us upp and she said no so I asked her to pardon me. When I went back to bed I thaugth mebe your cold got worser and you Phoned for me I had that so strongly on my mind so I imagen I heard the Phone ring.

Your Dad have now traded Dick away for a horse to be safe to go single in a bugge and also safe enough for a woman to drive. I do not know now just how true that is, it is not a bad looking horse he looks like the one Mrs Bill Burrows drives. Our ward is going to have their reunion to morrow I am going to try to go to it. Arthur, Elvira and myself we went to the meeting last eveing and Bishop Kemp came and spoke to me for the first time he asked me if I would come to our ward Conference next Sunday I told him I will see.

I will now close wishing you manny happy returns of this the 6th of Feb, and with love as ever

                        your Mother Caroline J. Peterson.

P.S. O it is bitter cold here I hope milder weather will soon come to us. I hope you are weel and your cold have left you. Your Dad traded horses with George Miller I vont be a bit surprised to see everything loose on our place sold or traded away always something for me to feel bad for but I dont fear I will suffer as long as I live and my dear and good children live.
