My dearest Lovis.

            Your bed letter of Aug 2nd been rec and I am happy every time when I find a letter from you in our box I am thankful you and yours are well and are getting along in years and oblige to retire real early. [Louise and “yours,” aka her husband Floyd, are newlyweds; hence the reference to retiring “real early.”]

            your Dad smiled when I handed him the taned News Paper you sent him. Arthur came home yesterday morning all dressed in uniform and he is sure proud of it.

            your Dad dont feel as good as he did so I hope Arthur will pitch in and help him work I belive Arthur have growed 4 inches latter while he been away and have learned a few things and have found out that theere is no place like home. I knew that Annie Peterson was going to Berkeley but I did not tell you I thaugth I let her surprise you but I see it was not much of a surprise when she wrote and had you to bother to go and meet her at the train.

            you are wondering what I am doing well I am buissy all the time I went teaching last Monday and went to meeting at nigth Sister Merrill and sister Cain was out and we sure had a good meeting, our astrican apples are ripening and I pick them upp every morning thoose who falls down during the nigth and I peel a dishpan full every day for to dry, I have peeled a big pan full to day and I got red beets and string beans on the stove a coocking and I must press my Temple clothes this afternoon and wash my hair theere is N. Logan Temple Day to morrow and I shall go to the Temple to morrow for all that I know now I am going with Br & Sister Ormond in their car we got the date all made upp yesterday to go togather we are sure blest with a host off friends.

            I guess I shall have some cards printed and present myself at your door and hand you my card an see if I will have mahogany cake and ice cream with you, (excuse my jarshing) you know I can not leave home and go to California or any where else far away. but I like to ask you to plaese send me one of Dr Whites Picture or Photo I would love to have it.

            Did you ever recived the recepee parsley [recipe parcel] I sent you? Theere is an awful lot off whooping cauph out here in N. Logan Nearly every familys children is just a whooping I can hear Susies children whoop clear down here Madaline & Repril have it to, Martha Becks baby is almost dead from it, Verna came down this morning and she was a sneezing and cauphing she have been exposed from Ormonds girls so I guess she is taking down also and if that is the case then Lee & Dagmars children will have it because Verna and Pearl is playing togather all the time and sleep togather to. and so O dear what a mess off sick children.

            I guess you have heard from Grace by now because she said in her last letter to me that she had written to you I guess Elvira will now soon be home so I can get her ready for to be babtized and for school. There is going to be a reunion at Logan next Saturday and Sunday for the Scandinaviens I like to go to it on Sunday anyway.

            Well I suppose I shall close this letter writting  and go to work I get as usual a lot of jawing for always sit and write but I dont care if I could not live but die from lonesomness. tell you Dr thanks for his Love sendings and to send some more Love to us and not spend it all on you. so long Lovis from your Mumsie.
