Dearest Lovis

I know you be looking for a letter tomorrow but honestly I been so busy talking and visiting with Joe that I miss counted the days in the week I thaugth [thought] this morning that it was Thursday to day. I thank you ever so much for the nice Birthday Booklet I have read it and read untill I can almost know the verse by hart, I had to smile when I read the written card because you says you make me a little house dress a little one do not fit me because I actually belive I am getting stouter every day your Dad have sent to the Lane & Bryant for some clothes for me and the size for a dress for me comes in size 46 it is just awful but I dont know the reason why I am getting so stout. Grace says I am the same but why do I need size 46 for then.

I got a nice birthday card from Jenie, and two pair of stockings from Auntie Lovis and 4 colored hankirchifs from Helen and a nice pair of candle holders and candles to match to put in them from Grace. I guess Joe will tell you how he caried parsels from the mailbox for 2 a [or] 3 days to the house. Grace and Gust came down last Thursday evening or last nigth and stayed over nigth and Joe went with them back to Malad this morning. O yeas [yes] I forgot to tell you that Ada gave me a box off this kind of stationari that I am writting on now I thaugth this was a good way to show you it, Ada also send me a large bowl off strawberrys.

We got some awful hot and dry weather here now I kind of suffers from the heat it is so awfully warm that a persons underwear is wet with or from sweat sitting still in the shed. theere will be a shortage off hay and grain here this year as theere is not enough water in the river for irrigation use so the fields are drying upp.

There is still a lot of sickness here in our ward both old and young are sick. Old lady Nyman is sick again she is now in the last stage of sugar dibeates [diabetes] and she has sores on her feet that is called cangareen [gangrene] like Ralph Smith had before he died sister Nyman do not know how serious sick she is no one will tell her, sister Ormond is upp but not able to do any work, Golden N. Junior is still sick in bed the had two Drs out for him last Tuesday evenings. and they disscovered Golden has some kind of nerve troubble I guess mebe his age has something to do with it.

We have now received three letters from Arthur just in a few days and all run in the same strain I will enclose the one we got to day so you will see what he says and if you plaese [please] will tell us what you think about it and what we shall do. for my part I say it best for him to stay where he is not and mebe after a while he will not feel so lonesome, I wonder if he writes to you in the same way.

Now dearest Lovis I hate to bother you with all kinds of things but if you will plaese write to Arthur and give him your advise he knows Pa and I are sheep, and we dont really know what to do or say what would be for the best, so we vont [won’t] say much of anything for a while or after we hear your opinion, Joe he says to absolutly let Arthur stay where he is, I have written to him but it seemes as he dont get my letters, one of my letters came back that I have wrote to Arthur but I have sent that to him by his addrass now, I will write to him to morrow and I will try again to convince him to stay where he is now, not that I wont love to have him come home but under the circumstances on the account of himself he is better of [off] where he is,

Well I talk and write back and fro and to and it is the same and it dont change anything so if I only could do what is rigth [right] and best but I do not know.

We have recived the Paper wherein we noticed your writting pointing at the great Aviator Russell Maughn of Logan Utah the firebell rung in town how are you I hope you are well. I think you are all so sweet to say such lovely things to and about me I only wish I deserved them, when I read your letters and the birthday booklet it gives me joy and comfort and gives me strength and hope to live and keep on to do the best I know how.

Your Dad and I are as usual I will soon have raspberrys to pick as they will soon be ripe I have pretty good health and some days I keep on working all day long and I feel so thankful when I see what poor health sister Ormond got I will now close with asking the Lord to bless you and me give my best love to your own Floyd. I am as always your Mother C. J. Peterson

You can easeyly see by this letter how mixed up I am.
