Dear Baby Lovis

It is 8 p m and I shall write and answer your letter that I recived last week. I am glad to hear you are all as well as you are. We have had a very rouph [rough] day here to day—the wind begin to blow this morning at 4 a m and it kept on untill 9 a m then it begun to rain just as hard as I ever saw it rain and so the wind and this rain why it beated on thoose kitchen windows untill I thaugth [thought] they would break. this storm kept up all day untill 4 p m it quitt raining but the wind is still blowing. it is not a very cold wind thank heaven the snow we had is now nearly all melted & we have mud instead. Arthur been in the house all day and he is now only when he does the choers [chores] he been reading a Love Storie Magazine

soo you seen Dr Hector well I dont know what to think it seemes to me as D.C. knows his business pretty well to but I would be so glad if you would soon tell me that you have used my prescription along with fasting and prayer. I know the Lord is sure good for His word and promises so why not seek Him and be comforted. Drs in general are very poor comforters and they would scare you to death if you depend or belived on them in evere [every] thing and every work they say. but dear Lovis I know you got faith in the Lord so why do you wait to do what He have revealed for us to do when we are ill. Why dont talk to your Dad he got the Priesthood and have the gift of healing and as the Lord is merciful to us and forgives us for our sin and shortcommings when we humble ourseffs before Him and pray unto Him I know He will hear and answer our prayers and give us our desired health and strength and ofhter [other] thing we ask Him for namly a testamony of the truth.

I wonder if the chickens & the meat your Dad fetched to you was fit to eat as it was not very cold here when he left but the chickens hung out frozen all nigth before I packed them I had some nice hard in a cloth ready to send but it was not any more room in the satsel [satchel] after I got the other things in it and your Dad kept telling me how un able he was to carie [carry] any more parsels so I am sorry I guess the lard got to do as your books wait for another change [chance]. I am also sorry your Dad did not bring a blamket when he needed it. I recived your Dads letter yesterday I am glad he can be around and I guess it will take sometime before he will get strong as he had lost his apetite and had not eaten or drunk anything to speak of for the last 2 a [or] 3 weeks before he left here it was a wonder that he was able to go and to get to Berkeley all rigth.

I got a letter from Joe this afternoon they are going to sail for San Pedro on the 19th so I guess if they reach San Pedro be 4 [before] the 25th  Joe will spend the xmas theere poor kid he writes as if he were awful lonesome.

            It is now 1 30 p m Dec 17.

When we got up this morning we found a foot of snow on the level ground and snow drift as high as your knees Abie had to shovel himself a road to get to the stable it is nice and quite now and the sun is shining in on me. I got a letter a day or so before you Dad left from sister Bowman she or they was going to Calif and she wanted me to give her your addrass but as you told me not to give your addrass to poeple I have not answered her letter at all, mebe Pa have thaugth [thought] of telling you but I dont know so I thaugth [thought] it best to tell you Oscars and Marys addrass is 4rd East 8th North Logan Utah I dont know their number I guess I will write again soon and so mebe I will know their no in time for you to send them a x mas card. Poor Mary she will be tickled to get a x mas card from you. I think the mail carrier will know wheere to deliver the mail when it is that near the addrass.

I would very much liked to have gone to town to day but it is to mut no [too much snow] so I dare not venture out. I wrote to Grace a few days ago and told her all the news so no doubt she will tell you about them so I shall now close with Love to all no names mentioned but all are remembered and no body forgotten. your Mumsie

C. J. Peterson    a x and a bear hug
