My dearest Daugther Lovis
Ever since
last Sarturday when I recived your letter written on Sept 12 have I been
writing to you in my thougths so you know if I could remember it all it would
be one of the longest letter you ever have recived but as I can not remember
anything of late I will now only write what comes to my mind now. I feel awful
lonely and lost this morning as this being the firt season I have not had one
to help and to send to school since your br Arthur started school at 6 years of
age the District schools comensed this morning.. at 8 15 a m here came our New
Teachers walking pass Hughes and upp to the schoolhouse it made me feel awful
lonesome for the Nebekers. I guess Elvira begun school to this morning at Madera Calif.
I gave her Pappa her card. I miss Elvira very much and I feel all the time as
if I just got back into the house from being to a funeral & burried one of
my dear children. FO & Annie came out home last sarturday evening stayed
over nigth and went home last evening at 7 p m F.O had a big pot roast, and
grapes with him and so we had a very naice dinner yesterday Louis he talks
pretty plane now I can understand nearly all he says he has a much better
appetite now then he just to have so he has picked up wonderful. Shirly she
stands all alone now but at times she looses her balance and sits down pretty
hard it almost sounds as if a 50 # flour sack drops over, she have a lot of
teeth in her mouth and she looks so cute when she smiles. Annie is thinner then
ever she has such awful time with her teeth. F.O. is fine he is the same Joseph
of old he never misses a day coming home to see how we are and if nothing else
he brings us a newspaper.
I called to see Myra last Friday
evening but she was not at home so she called me upp this morning she said she
had written to you but rec no answer she said she teaches in the afternoons and
wants to see me she got a lot to things to tell me so mebe so I will go and see
her to town any way to bay a present for Loveene Wilhelm the are going to have
a shower on her to morrow afternoon, the mean girl she went and got married in
July not letting her parents or any one else know about it untill about a week
ago it kreeped out from some one, her parents feels awful bad her mans name is
McAllick a son of thoose Drunkards so no wonder at her parents feeling bad and
he been compared with Fred Roskelley. I called to the Bank last Thursday and I
talked to Annie Peterson for a few minutes she was awful buissy she told me you
had a good man and that she had a good visit with you while she was in
Berkeley, I see you been attending Relif Sosity Meeting I did not think the
Californians bothered to cut and sew quiltblocks.
I have told you before in this
letter that I was to town last Friday afternoon I called on Mrs Gorge Smith at
West Center st she is the Supervisor for the Domestic Art at the Cache County
fair wich is to be Sept 25-26-27—1923, I took min märk duk with me and asked
her if that would be worth to be send in to the fair and she yeas sure that is
a fine pis of work and it is not only the work but how it have been proteckted
and kept for 50 years is wonderful, Mrs Smith advised me to have it pressed
& put in a frame with deep green cloth at the back of it so I got it to
Larson now to framed I shall ask Mrs Smith to write the ticket and put on it
before it goes into the fair. Well one or two more things will I tell you about
what happened last Friday on my way home and when I came to 9th
North I heard a woman talking but I could not see her her voice sounded
familiar to me and as I drove on who was not the woman but Nellie Ceerrum
Peterson she is here to be confined her man and her little boy is here to I did
not have a change to talk to them very much because theere was an electric
storm comming up from the West and going east I drove on as fast as I could but
before I got to Bergesons the ligthning got awful strong so I drove in to
Bergesons and stopped untill the storm passed by I did not got home untill 7 p
m your Dad sat on the stepp awaiting for me, Nellie is stopping at her Fathers
place so I shall call on her some of theese days. the dear poor soul, she said
