My dear Daugther Lovis.

Your Dad just went to Logan to find a box for to send your things in so while I am all alone I will write to you I recived your letter last Sarturday evening that you wrote July3 We are glad to hear you are well and happy and having a wonderful good time.

I suppose you had some mail from me awaiting you when you got back to Berkeley and in it you find some answers on this your last letter. F.O. and Annie comes home every day and lots of times the asks me to go and go with them for a ride We went to Wellswille last Sarturday after noon F.O. took us to a store at Wellswille and I bougth a new pan with a leed [lid] on to Mix bread in that is something that I wanted to have for sometime It’s not a very large one but it is large enough for us few who will be home here.

We heard from Joe last Sarturday for the first time since he left us he says he was find F.O. Got a letter fro him at the same time it was sent out here in our care & box. We were invited on the 4th to F.O. and Annie for dinner Annies Ma was theere to We had a nice dinner and a good visit with them little Shirley is getting cuter all the time she sits alone where ever you sit her down and sometimes she slides of the rug and when she hears us comming to put her back on the rug she tries to hurry to go farther and if we wait to see what she will do she looks back at us and smiles we got to watch her very close now because she picks up every little thing and puts it in her mouth. Louis is cute to but not as cute as Shirley. Annie has made Shirley a pretty white bonnet and it surely fits the baby cute.

We are sureley having warm weather here now but it dont bother me much I have worked in our garden every day when I have been at home and I am trying to spend my time as useful as possible. If I am well enough I shall go to the Temple next Wednesday and Friday on Thursday every person in Cashe Stake over 60 is invited to come and have dinner on the Tabernacle square mebe I will go and mebe not it deends on what is now already on the program unknown to us now.

If I remember I think I told you in one letter about Arthur joyning the National Home Gueard Well Arthur and 24 more young boys left Logan last Thursday 1 45 pm for Salt Lake F.O. spoke to a man last Sarturday that told F.O. that theese boys left Salt Lake Friday some of them went to Calif and some to Fort Russell Wyoming Arthur said he write soon but we have not heard from him yet. Dr Thatcher and another Officer went with the boys I spoke to Dr Thatcher and he exsplaned to me about the National Home Guard but I can not now remember one word he said so I dont know what it is I guess Dr White knows so if you will ask him and let me know.

The nigth between the 4th and the 5th we had an awful elecktric storm here and the ligthning struck in several places and set them a fire. Taylors barn was struck and was burned to the ground at 11 a 12 and as you know how close their house is to the barn it was all the could do to save it from burning the Newton school house was also struck and burned down the same nigth and a granary at Hyde Park was set a fire by the ligthning. it sure was a frigths of a storm one that broke the record. Grace wrote and asked me if we were alrigth because the Malad people could see what a tirrible storm it was down this way. I hate to tell you about all the bad News but I got to tell you about one more you know Sam Smith that lives at Jerome he was killed in an automobile accident it hapened in the first part of last week the car tipped over with him and 3 more that was in the car Sams both arms got broke  one leg all broke and all mashed and the other leg broke he lived a few hours after the accident I have not heard how bad thoose other ones was hurt but the did not die. Susannah and Mabel went to their Brother Sams funeral. Mrs and Miss Calderwood is still in the hospital the girl is injured the hardest of the two.

F.O. and family was home all day last Sunday and we had a nice dinner pot roast and brown gravy, mashed potatoes, macaroni fixed with tomatoes, lettuce fixed with cream sauce, tabioca pudding, chillie sauce and pickles and bread and butter of course. I made a cream cake and we had coffee and cake and strawberrys later in the afternoon you ougth to have seen your Br F.O. how he enjoyed his dinner. we have planned to make ice cream and have cockies and ice cream on Annies birthday wich is here in a few days.

Well dearest Lovis if I dont soon quitt writting this will be a book instead of a letter but I will ask you before I close What dress did you wore at the time when you was married? We will send a box to you to morrow and I hope it will come to you all O.K. I have a lot more things to write about but must close and get supper for your Dad So long dearest with everlasting Love from your Mother C.J. Peterson.
