Dearest Lovis
I suppose
you have heard from me this morning. and I want you to hear form us again next
sarturday so I will grab an hour and write We just had dinner Arthur and Melvin
went to fish yesterday and the each got a good mess of fish I cleaned the fish
last evening and put them in salt water over nigth and I fried them for our
dinner to day and O the tasted good I said while we were eating I wish we could
send our California folks a good big mess of fish, I been thinking what I could
send you but I feel I have not anything that is good enouph and would pay to
send way down to Berkeley We got some very piculiar weather one day the Sun is
shining and the next day it is snowing and blowing and cold as December. I know
Berkeley must
look pretty the way you describe how the lawns are green and the flowers are in
bloom and in my imagenation I try to enjoy it with you,
Theere is
N. Logan Temple day to day but as I am getting to be a drone in doing any thing
good I backed out of going on the account of the storm. I belive theere is
quite a few poeple from N. Logan to the Temple
to day. We recived the Chronicles yesterday and I guess you noticed the pis in
it about the big mine explosion at Castle Gate Utah is it not tirible what a
lot of sadness this explosion brings, in the last nigths Deseret News there had
been 127 men dug out all dead and the rescue work is still going on of course
but no hope of finding any of the rest of the men alive.
No Lovis I
can not recolect seeing sister Seamons in your Relif Sosity meeting we were to
there except it was not the class leader, I tell you who I can remember, the
little neger sister, Mrs Peterson, sister Mc King and the smart acting woman
sitting by her side, and the Mother in law and the sister that always got lost
sister Hendricks I can not just now think of her name o yeas I can remember one
more and that was the woman who was to be fortune teller at some party on
sarturday next.
I wonder
what you are doping to day I hope you and Floyd are both well. I am trying to fix
up an under skirt for myself but I dont get to do much sitting down work I am
on the go all day long untill I am to tired in the nigth to even read and I came
nearly saying to pray but so far I have not been to tired for to pray. Your Dad
is the same no better or nor worst for all I can notice or understand he is now
sitting by the stove reading the Cronicle I have noticed more of the pictures
form the same place were your friend Mr Martin Works and the are sure the
prettiest pictures in the paper.
Arthur is
getting ready to go to Logan it is his nigth to nigth for drilling you augth to
see him now he been powdering his face before I got up this morning I had a
letter dictated in my mind for to answer Floyd on thoose cute little lines I
have read he have written at the close of your letters but I am sorry it has
all left my memory so I will wait untill I can remember it again but on thing I
know was and is that what I always been worreying over, to be very careful not
to get runned over being to buisy having his mind on his work I feel pretty
good only I am so darn lonesome, I wish the weather would clear up so I could
go out Annie wants me to come down this week but if it dont quitt storming I
dare not go for fear I get cold and take sick I belive by the way my knees and
ancles acke now I must have a touch of rheumatism. give my best wishes and Love
to Floyd and you exept a bushel of love for yourself from your Mother
Caroline
J Peterson.
P.S. the mailmain is at Bleakers place mebe I will get a
letter from you when he come to our place. I hope you exuse all the misstakes I
make when I write it is real hard for me to write so it can be understood as
both your Dad and Abie keeps talking to me and asking questions.
