[This letter was enclosed in C.J. Peterson’s letter of 27 June 1924 to L.C. White. Written by Caroline’s grandson, Arthur Roskelley (Obie), 16 years 8 months old. Obie had been in the Army just one month.]

 My Dearest Grandma why don’t you wright [write] to me I can’t stay in this dam army any longer



I want you to get me out and ther is the way to do it

You must go to a Layer [lawyer] and have him make a statement that I am neded at home

I guess Pa can get the judg Sew Nilson to pa that part of it

I cant sleep are eate I am so lonsem 

Well I mast close if you get me out that way I will get a rute and fair home also what I got coming

Well granma I mast close lots of work
as every Arthur

You haves got to send it to Wash ington d.C.
Pleas ancer soon I haven’t hered from you since I goined the army
