Dearest Lovis

I have heard that Dec 21st is the shortest day of the year and it sure must be as it is now only 4 15 p m and it is all I can do to see to write sitting by the window Your Welcome letter and cards was recived yesterday and we thank you ever so much thoose printed cards are swell we think by rigth we should have got them before but our Mail carier did not come out here at all last Friday as it was danger of him freezing to death traveling with that slow horse of his. I am glad to hear that your Dad seeme to enjoy himself and I hope he will be careful so not to be run down when he crosses the Streets tell him not to go out without his glasses. has he been to Church yet. I see you are still working at the secratary work but I guess that is the last for this year and the last for you as it is injuries to your health to have the responsebility of that work it is best for you to leave it alone.

Do not worrie over me or us we are alrigth we are well so dont let us stop you from having a good an joy ful x mas time I am not very lonesome and if I was it wold not do me a bit of good I am buissy working all the time but we sure have had a scare last week having such extreamely cold weather and I hope and pray that we will not have onother cold spell like it this winter last Friday I got so nerveous watching theese windows and doors they were covered with ice and frost and so I kneeled down and prayed to the Lord to soon cause the weather to moderate soon and to proteckt us and to take away from me the fear I had for the great disaster Abie picked up dead birds that laid dead on the top of the snow between the stable and the house by hands full and they have died from the cold.

so you are trying to tell me how much your Dad loves me I know he loves me when I am far away.

I like to go to town to morrow forenoon if the weather permits me to have some mail sent away and to go and see FOs family I am sending you and Floyd a cheap present but I hope you will escuse me I meant to put a card in side of it but I forgot untill Wilkinsons had it all wrapped ready to mail. but you know best what and hoe you like to have it fixed. it is now supper time and shoer [chore] time so I shall help Abie as he wants to go to town this evening remember me to Floyd and tell him I miss thoose hooks & eyes he just to put down to the bottom of your letters. Merry x mas from Ma.
