Dearest Lovis

For some reason my head feels very tired to day. I know you and your Dad will be looking or expeckting to hear from me before this week ends. Your welcome letter been recived with your Dads enclosed and the newspaper clipping about thoose folks who so surely expeckted the Saviour. We have some more cold weather here now and more snow to, our windows been covered with ice every nigth and morning all this week, but for all of it we are alrigth. Yesterday it was F.Os and Annies 5th wedding Anniversary and Coras birthday and they had a party to Coras I was not invited but instead of it Annie asked me to come in and stay with Louis and Shirly while she went to the party and so I did I left here at 12 30 and got home at 6 p m, Annie had the baby with her.

I guess you heard by Grace about little Ray Maughn dying well it was sad but no doubt but what he is happy. Rose Nyman benn sick all this week the Dr been out twice to see her she is bothered with the change. last Monday when I was out teaching I was surprised to see and hear of so manny babys expeckted to come to N. Logan within a few mounths from now theere is nine if not ten babys that got a hope to soon be born in N. Logan I knoy you are curious to know who theere Mothers are so here is their names Anna Kemp, Lydia Nyman, Menerva Ormond, Agnes Bergner, Ruby King, Vera Nelson, Obie Larsons vife, the lady that lives in Olofs house, Spencer Crokstons vife, is this not a bunch a comming. I wish them all good luck. Yesterday I meet Wanda Henderson on Main in Logan and she asked me how you was and she said for me to tell you hello and for you to write to her, she came along on the side walk holding to her Darling fathers arm. I understand that Carl Fredlys and Vildas house and place is gone back to President Henderson I suppose br Henderson do not want to be mixed up with them simple minded poeple. how funny I had forgoten your age but I am glad you knows it yourself and is keeping track, well I know I am so very forgetful so plaese pardon me, I am sending the kiddies each a valentine to day.

It sounds good to hear you tell me that your Dad do not cauph any more and are feeling better, well he needs to be getting well as theere is a lot of work here awaiting him. I thaugth I write to him to day but I will wait and see if Folkman will show up but if he dont shows up in the next few days I shall write to him any way.

F.O. been out twice this week already and I am sure glad when I can hear the sound of his buss wagon comming closer and when it stops in our lane. I got a compliment for myself and I belive I shall tell you what it was One day here not long ago when I was outside and at the top of our lane shutting the gate a sleighload of poeple padded an the hollered hello at me and asked me how I was I answered them and said I am just find and as the were riding along one of the party schouted out and said, Oh but if she aint getting to be old looking. I did not supposed to hear it but I did It never insulted me any as I know it was true. I guess the reason why they are putting it of to get another secrataray in your Relif Sosity is the want to keep you, but when it serves you like you told me it does you better get exused as I know how it feels when it turns black before our eyes as when I write two letters in a row I can see dark dots before my eyes and my head begins to acke and I feel very funny I know it is the nerves that are weak. I will enclose a sermon for your Dad to read and some other clippings and then I shall close asking you to give my love to Floyd and your Dad and to Gus & Grace & the children but most to you at the end of this letter  your Mother C. J. Peterson

It is now 2 30 p m and I shall have coffee all to myself

Write soon my dear Baby Visa. x  x  x  x  x  x.

[2 Long Sermons (from newspaper) enclosed and 3 shorter newspaper clippings. The 3 short clippings are below.]

  1. The tradition of the Ground-hog seeing or not seeing his shadow, has more or less to do with the weather, it seems, than most people imagine, according to this week’s spring-like condition. Anyhow, the little animal failed to see his shaddow on Feb. 2, and Feb. 3 was a real spring day, which was a point in favor of the Ground-hog theory. In fact, the week has been rather spring-like and the snow is melting rapidly. Most everyone is praying for an early spring and we hope it comes early.
  2. The Malad Enterprise said the Ground-hog saw his shadow in Tremonton Feb 2. We doubt it.
  3. According to Mrs. Margaret W. Rowan, of the Seventh Day Adventists, the world was to have come to an end last night and the Savior was to have come and taken the righteous with him into heaven. But not yet. There is far too much to be accomplished and many prophesies yet to be fulfilled before that eventful day. The Savior is coming—and when he comes, thousands will be unprepared to meet him, no doubt, but we are rather inclined to take more stock in the prediction of N. W. Fletcher of 314 Neva Place, Hollywood, Calif., who says the end will not come for twenty-nine years—in 1954, and bases his arguments on the Book of Revelations and divides the exiseence of the world, since Adam, into fourteen blocks or periods.
