My dear Baby daugther Lovis

To speak the truth I can not remember if I have answered your letter written on drap or blue paper if I have not I am very sorry I have waited so long to write I was already to write yesterday and here came Uncle Sjostrom to visit us he had walked all the way out so he was both thirsty and hungry so I went to work and cooked dinner and as you know how pokie I am I did not get time to write before the mailman came, now it is 1 45 p m and I hope there would not be anything to hinder me so I can not write today

First I thank you folks for the lovely card and then for the nice box I recived yesterday full of the nicest Stationary I have ever seen or ever used in my whole life I thank you a million times for it I shall not write on it to day as I am rather nerveous and I am afraid I will spoil it being the first time I would write on it. I guess you have recived my letter saying I can not leave here and I hope you are not to dissapointed and feel sore at me and never will forgive me as you stated in one of your letters. We will see what the future got in store for us but I think it is best for us old folks to stay close to the hillside south of us.

Your Dads troubble is very deceiving one day he seemes to feel much better and then the next day he is not so well he is upp every day and walks around slowly for a little while outdoors and then comes in and sits in the rocking chair he once gave his mother and at her death as you know got back. he eats and sleeps pretty good and as long as he can do that I dont feel so much alarmed I feel better now than I have for the last 4 a’ 5 weeks you know sister Ormond took sick and had the same deasiase as I had and they had the Dr out and he said it is the Stomach Flu it took sister Ormond longer to get better than it did me as I must have had it in a ligth case just like I had the flu if you remember,

I don’t work hard we have not any garden only a small flower garden and F.O. helps me carie water for it. and I dont milk F.O. does the milking I take care of the milk and feed the calfs and the pigs and the chickens, Gus and Grace gave me a little Pet Lamb for Mothers Day and I take care of it, I churned butter yesterday and I made 6 pounds and O it is good I made it.

The Decoration Day is aproching, I guess we will have to depend on the roses as the lilacs and the snowballs, and the bridal rites will all be gone at that time. Grace says the Preston is about 10 days behind and as she have a lot of flowers growing in the front of the place where she lives so mebe so she will have some flowers if she can come down on the Decoration Day.

We got nice weather here now the first crop of hay will soon be ridy to cut, see Lovis I guess the trade you had for me is lost but if you still got it send it just for the fun, I have a lot of news marked down to write and tell you but I will wait untill next time I write as I am afraid I will miss the mailman, but I must tell you that Joe expeckts to leave San Pedro June 14 for San Fransisco and he says he like to go and see you. I will enclose a clipping it reminds me when Dr T.B. wanted to oparate on your finger. Give my love to Floyd and exept a bushel of Love for yourself and this letter full of x ses  and bearhugs

                        your Mother Caroline J. Peterson.
