My dearest poeple at Petaluma Calif. Your Welcome letter from June 28 been
recived we are so thankful you are so fine.
It is
now 9 a m I am about ready to go down to the raspberriy patch we had a big rain
and a Elecktric storm last nigth the rain came down in torrents for two hours
from 9 p m to eleven p m the rain was a blessing it looks like we will have
some more rain as thoose white clouds you remember I guess is hanging on theese
montains between the sky and the foot of the montains you asks what we would
say if you would come home while Floyd goes to Camp, You migth know but I am
afraid you will have other arrangement but we will all will be very glad to see
you home and have you kiss our faces off. We all look like the Indians the Sun
been so very hot and we been out in it you should just see F.O. he is now the
picture off an Indian you know him and two Darlings boys contrackted the
stacking of the peavine [pea vine] and as the[y] have and are rushing the work
thoose three men is working themselfs to death and F.O. got an awful cold to[o]
he can not speak above a wisper he has lost 30 pounds and he dont look like
himself at all it seemes as theere is always something to worrie about. I guess
this work will last for two more weeks and they been at it two weeks now
you
asked me how I should celebrate the forth well I was picking raspberries all
day Logan did not celebrate the 4th at all but they are preparing
for to celebrate the 24th Preston and two more towns in Cashe Vally
celebrated the forth so the Preston bakers expeckted to be very buissy I have
not seen or heard from them since Grace left here after being home for my
birthday. Sure Lovis Grace be glad to see you what makes you think any
differents she was dissapointed when you did not come on the 24th of
June as when we were talking she said she sure thaugth you come. and I told you
how childish and foolish I was to.
Irene is
every bit as pretty as she always been you ougth to see her and have her tell
you that Uncle Hog’ calls her dirty face I get her to tell it to me ever so
often when she is here Darold promised to come and help me pick berries but
he’s not come down yet I guess Grace has not had a change [chance] to take him
down he could come on the inturban he came down on it once all alont to I never
been so surprised as when I saw Darold comming up the road all alone.
Annie
feels fine and the children to only Annie feels worried over her father they
Drs opatated on him last tuesday they had his big toe taken off Annies sister
and husbaund from Calif is here and they stayes home with Annies Mother. We
heard from Joe yesterday for the first time since he been to see you he told us
what a good time he have had with you he was fine but he did not say anything
about when he be here.
I got a
little gossiping to do before I cloes this letter some of the Pocatellos been
down here the Bergs are fine but Sadies girl Norma have had troubble and are
back home to her Mother I guess you knew she got married to the feller she had
here in Logan but the[y] did not got along very good they had one child but it
died so you can imagen all the rest. Mary, Normas sister is getting along fine,
Annie Sjostrom and Esther came a walking all the way out here poor Annie she
dont get along at home any more she stayes with Elsie and her husbaund
Esther
and her son lives with Esthers father she goes out to work they are all fine
you asks
how everything around here looks well everything looks the same the white and
black heafier you remember it it was a calf 4 mounths old when you was here
well it is a cow now she had a nice heafier calf last friday she is the cutest
cow we ever had and she is tame as a lamb she gives a good mess of milk but as
usual Holstiens do not give very rich milk,
your Dad
is no better or no worse he is watering to day I can see him standing a leaning
on the hoe or schovel [shovel] handel every onece in a while. F.O. went up to
the canal this morning early to get the water down for Pa he can no more
walking upp the hill than fly it sure is a blessing to have F.O. so close by
and he never refuses to help us put.
Well I
guess I shall now limp down to the raspberrie patch and pick berrie for jam so
I have some jam to put on the bread for my kids when the[y] asks me for pisis
[pieces]. Give my love to Floyd and exept an ocean of love for yourself from
Mumsie Becky Jenkins. [Becky Jenkins, possibly a joke]
I forgot to ask how Floyds sore thumb is? plaese tell me when you write ag
