My dear folks at Petaluma Calif.
I am sorry
I did not get a letter of to you to day when I got in the house this forenoon
at 10 45 am from doing choers and sprinkle the flower beds I was to tired to
think and as the weather been and is extremely hot I thot I better wait and
write untill this afternoon, It is now 5 p m a little breeze now comes from the
green canion and it feels good I hope we can soon have rain as to settle the dust
and cool of[f] the air and that is not all but for the crop that is now
suffering for water as the water in the river is not enouph for the
irigated and but as luck will have it
our place is not suffering yet the pasture
and the whole place is as green as grass.

welcome letter and the Birthday parsel been recived and we thank you a thousand
thanks. Gus and Grace and the children came down home on the 24th at
2 p m we had a nice dinner in the evening and Coffee and fresh doughnuts and
cookies in the afternoon Franklin and Annie was here with us to and their
children, thoose Ladies from Preston did not come as Mr Hanson was very sick.
Gus went back to Preston at 10 p m on the interurban and Grace and the children
stayed here for 3 days so the[y] left last evening at 6 30, I have had a good
rest and a real good time we intended to all eat dinner here yesterday we
killed 2 chickens last Sarturday and boiled them so it vould not be so much to
do yesterday only to make the dressing and roast the chickens and cook the
vegetables, and have red mush for desert with cream. and so after all Frank and
family could not come as Annies Father is sick and was taken to the Hospital
yesterday so they were to Wellsville. Mr Poppleton got the Kangagreen in one of
his feet he is 80 years old so they] are very much afraid of it well we can not
expeckt to live forever and theere is always something that comes to hepp
[help] to take us away.
I am
thankful you are both so find and to hear that Joe is alrigth, we are your Dad and
I, I mean as usual and I hope and pray every day that comes and goes that we
will be able to live rigth we are sure thankful for you are children
theere is no one around here I know of that remembers their Parents like our
children does us. Franklin comes up twice a day and Grace comes down as often
as she can, I got two more dollars besides what you send me one from Jennie
Shipp and one from Ada Hughes & Verna gave me a box of candy, Dallie and
Irene gave me each two nice hankerchifs, Ada send down a big big bowl of
strawberries for our dinner on the 24th so you see I was made glad
but O dear me do you know I was childish anouph to think you migth surprise us
with your precence , nothing doing tho. I forgot to tell you Grace gave me $10
and enouph cake, bread, and stuff such as coffee, Salmon, cheese to last us for
two weeks or more,
Franklin
says for me to tell you not to be so dissapointed because Grace dont write as
when she comes to N. Logan she very seldom goes to see them but whissies down
or up passed Darlings corner and dont even look over to their place. I got a
little bad news to tell you Benard Borjesonj vife has passed away she died from
Goitrie [?] she left 2 children she was the daughter of Alfred Ericson her name
was Mabel. they been living down south some where by a mine.
Well I guess this is all so I shall
now close thanking both you and Floyd for the nice birthday presents, and with
