My dear daugther Lovis

It is now only 9 a m monday your Dad went with the milkman to town and I expeckts to be here all alone all day as Pa is on his way back upp from town to stopp at Sjostroms and pick upp apples off the ground for our pigs.

Yours so kind and welcome letter been recived and I thank you. I do not know why I have not written oftner like I should but honestly it has been such hot weather and I am always feeling so very tired in my head it rained last evening so now the air is cooled off a little but I know it will get awful warm again by noon so I thaugth I better write while I have a little ambition I am thankfull to hear you are fine and I hope that the milepost will be for your advancement uppward and onward. the Cache Stake was intertaining their old folks last Friday at the Tabernacle gnare [sic], your Dad and I went, theere were ride provided for us by the commitee at 10 30 theere was a meeting in the Tabernacle theere was a nice Program, and Prof Lund speackes and songs by several persons we had launch at 12 30 we had fried spring chickens, salad roosted beef, butter, bread two kinds and cake & pie by galore and ice cold lemonade made from fruit use and flavored. at 3 p m we went to the show at the capitol all free to thoose over 60 it lasted for 2½ hour then we went back to the Tabernacle square and had refreshments Ice cream and cake and some more off that good lemonade to drink, so you see we spent the whoole day in town I enjoyed it because Your Dad was with me and he seemed to enjoy himself a eating and visiting with old aquintenses music was furnished by a local band & the scout boys

a week ago yesterday we went to Ogden to visit Arthur F.O. and family, Mrs Poppilton and Gorgia to Grace and Dallie & Irene your Dad and I we all went in two cars we left Logan at 10 30 a m and got to Abbot cottage at 12 15 and we stayed untill 4 30 p m that is all the time the visitors are allowed to stay we had a good visit with Arthur he was well and seemed to be getting along pretty good now he been working hard in the hay but was to begin in a few days to work in the kitchen as a baker he looks pretty good nothing extra I asked him how soon he thinks he be home so he said in the spring mebe it all depends on himself if he will be able to make his credit I did not saw or spoke ot the Suprentendent but Grace did and he told Grace that Arthur is making his credit pretty good now and he hoped he would stay with it. We took him a lot off reading, Grace took him a big box off candy and nuts, F.O gave him two pair off Sunday stockings I took him apples and other stuff from home. I like to have given him a ½ dollar but they are not allowed to have monny. Grace and pa went in to Ogden and bougth Ice cream for Arthur. and when he eat it the tears was rolling down his checks.

after we came back we stopped at Poppiltons for a few minutes then F.O. and family came out home with us and we had supper here alltogather Grace stayed over nigth and left Monday morning at 10 a m last evening at 8 30 Gus and Grace and the kids of course came down the been working all day a baking and so as they had buisness to talk over with Max the had to see him and then they came here after and left at 10 p m, I am sure glad they are back as I do not think we could off got a long much longer without any one off or dear girls it apears now as Gus and Grace will do alrigth in Preston. Neihter one off Pa and I been to see them yet but Pa is going upp one off theese day evenings this week when F.O. goes they been to Preston several times when F.O.s work quitts at 6 30 p m then they leave Logan at 7 and comes back at 12 or at midnight. yeas theere was quite an disappointment when the McGill people did not get the Temple work done what they intended to do I forgot to tell you they called at the Abbot Cottage on their way back to Salt Lake They got permission to see and visit with Arthur for a ½ hour only. Aunti eLovis wrote and told me all about their visit theere.

I sat by Gladyes Mother in the show last Friday and I asked her if she knew if Gladys had recived a spoon that you had sent her baby and she said yeas and that Gladys had wrote to you and Mailed a letter to you last Thursday Rose was so very plaesed because you sent the spoon. I also have saw and spoke to Bitty Seamons and he inquired about you and he sends his love to you, he was here to Sister Nymans funeral and I sat by him and his vife theere and he was also to the old folks last Friday. I got to lauph every time I look at what thoose flower seeds you sent me turned out to be, they grow and spread like cucumbers and have big yellow flowers on and it is building out to grow like squash, I gave sister Darling and sister Sjostrom a few off them seeds in the spring and they told me theirs is growing just the same. Irene was telling me last nigth what a pretty umbrella her Auntie Lou had sent her O she was plaesed I read yesterday in the Deseret News that San Diego and 3 more towns have had a slight feeling off earthquake last Sarturday morning and I hope that the Lord will save Petaluma from the earthquakes and dearest Lovis I am so much afraid now since you left all thoose L.D.S. poeple at Oakland branch and have new aquintinses that you will losse your interest in the church work but I pray that you will still keep on to cast your bread apon the water and God will love and bless you and so you will not hope in vain I do not know just now were in our hymn books you can find thoose above lines but I know you know what I mean, if you dont have a hymn book tell me and let me give you one.

Verna is well and are growing like a weed she comes down to see us real often she is beginning to be a big help to her Mother and to all appearance she is getting along alrigth with Br Hughes she got a bycicle off her own and her and Zella ride past here on it togather real often sometime they tip over and they lauphs then gets upp and on the bycicle they get and go lick a the split in all derecktion

It is now 1 45 p m I have had two visitors since I begun writting this letter, sister Maughn for  one and the Watkin man for the other and I been afraid they would stay so I vont get this letter off to day but mebe I will now if I hurry as I think I have now answered your letters pretty well. I guess your Dad vont be back before bedtime as he always has such good visits with Uncle S. and his new vife and when Pa vent this morning he was going to the Montgomery to bay himself a pair off working pants, poor Pa he suffers a great deal but he bears his sufferings more patiencently now than he has. I help him all I can to cut lusern [?, sic] and do other choers so he can be quite and sit still. Sister Ormond is now sick in bed she been filled upp with water but the Dr been treatening her for dropsy so she feels a little better to day it makes me more or less very nerveous when I think that two off our sisters have passed away in such a short time and now here sister Ormonds life is in danger I think I shall close and get me a bite to eat Grace and Gus had 3 loafs off graham and 2 loafs off white bread, and a paper sack off other food for our coffee and gave to us last nigth give my love to Floyd and exept a good portion of love for yourself from your old and tired out Mother
