My dearies at
Petaluma.
It is 12 a m rather funny
time to sit and write letters but as your Dad has had two meals already to day
he can get along while I am writting this letter We recived yours so welcome
and interested letter Aug 31st and I realize it is way past time for me to answer
it and I now intend to spend 2 hours and a ½ a visiting with you in the best
way I can
First I
shall answer your questions so the most important is that we are alrigth your
Dad seeme to cauph a good deal more than he has but other vise he seeme to be
no worse. Yeas I think it is very nice for Audrey to take nursing yeas I hear
from Jennie onece in a while Audres Addrass is Box 1369 San Diego Calif. F.O.
and family is all well The baby and Shirly grows like weeds but Lewis is the
same small and do not seeme to grow much in statue but he is a vise kid the
baby go two teeth and is digging for more, Lewis have quitt talking like his
Dad and he talks like a child his age and just as plain, I can understand every
word he says. I think Shirly is the rigth size a child should be at her age the
baby is getting upp on his knees in under the library table and sits and playes
with any thing he can reach.
I have
not heard from Joe either for a long time the chelude [schedule] he sent me
before he left says they are now at sea enroute for Honolula and will be theere
Sept 10 and then stay theere to Sept 19 and then sail for U.S.A. Sept 19 and
arive at San Diego aeria [area] Sept 26. I wonder so much why we dont hear from
him.
I am
sorry you live so far from any L.D.S. Church but I am so plaesed to know Floyd
are encouraging you to pay your tithing Now the way for you to pay it or to pay
from is What ever monny Floyd give you to spend for things you want or to do
with what ever you want, that is the monny the Lord like for you to pay 10x
from every dollar and as you have had proved to you before that when you payed
your tiding [tithing] that He blesses 90x to go as far as 100x you can read in
the Bible about thiding [tithing] and thiding [tithing] law and prayers.
I shall
in the future send you a Book that you can read for yourselfs about the
promises the Lord Himself gives to thoose who payes thiding [tithing], altho I
feel that we should not pay thiding for what we are promised to get for it but
also because we Love the Lord and put our thrust [trust] in Him He is good for
His word as I can in my humble way testify to.
Thanks
for the flower you sent I bet this this Burbanks place is a wonderful place.
Grace
and Darold and Irene and myself went to Ogden last Sunday, we look launch
[lunch] with us and we spread it on the grass like we did at the Golden Gate
Park and Arthur had launch with us we stayed theere the whoole wisiting
[visiting] hours wich from 12 30 to 4 30 p m. Arthur he was well and seeme to
get a long alrigth now he sure looks plaesed when we come but sad when when we leave,
he had just recived a letter from you the morning we came so we all read it he
gave me the clipping you sent to take home for Pa for to read, Arthur is
working every day sometime between he works in the field he works in cement so
on day while he was working in the cement the machine flu [flew] upp and it cut
a deep gash in his head and about an inch and ¾ ths long just above the temple
on the left side, he has never said anything to us about it but when he took
his cap off to bless the food and eat we noticed his hair was shaped off and
the new big scar on his head and so off course you know how excited and curious
we get we could not start eating untill he had told us how it all happened he
said he felt pretty sick for a few days so he could not work theere was one boy
theere that also been working in the cement and the lime had sprinkled upp on
him and his face and hands was all in sores the lime had burned him you know
the boys are put to do man work and the[y] are only young and do not know how to
handle their work so they boys gets hurt.
It sure
come hard on Grace this time to go and drive from Preston upp here and from
here to Ogden and then back in one day as she was not feeling well, she stayed
here over nigth and intended to go to Preston yesterday morning but she was to
sick to go so she laid down all forenoon I dr [doctor] on her I could but it
took its time she felt better about 4 p m so she got herself and the children
ready and left here at 5 p m I wanted her to stay and go home this morning but
she said she be alrigth so she went she had to send Darold to school this
morning as the schools have started all over to day.
I had a
whole lot more on my mind to write to you about but I am afraid I vont get time
to write much more before Mr Slowcum is here so I shall only write and tell you
a dream I dreamed and then close I was in Berkeley staying with you folks at
Hungerforses and we was going to eat breakfast and as we sat down you was going
to make your cocoa but as usual I had filled the teakettle so theere was no
boiling water and Oh Oh you know the rest, I could see Floyd as plain stiring
his coffee with a spoon and tasting it, I felt when I awoke like I had been
with you my dream was that real.
Now dear
baby Lovis learn to act careful and vise save upp your strength and use it only
when you need it I will now close with much love to both my dear babyes from
your Ma Caroline J. Peterson. it is now 2 30 p m. tuesday Sept 8
