My dear folks
at Petaluma
I am afraid you are thinking
we are dead or something similar to it but we are as ususl only I have
negleckted writting we yave had much
company all During the holidays and since we have had a pig killed and as usual
I am slow at my work and makes a big job out off nothing and when nigth come I
am to tired to think what to writ I hope I ahve now made enouph off exuses so I
can begin to write so I can mail a letter to you to day, I can not remember if
I have answered any off your two last lettres so I shall now peg away writing
mebe I have answered one before I am afraid I dissapointed you in sending you
the Book I did but I like for you to have them Books first off or before other
things before I pass away and if the shipp every comes in I like to remember
you better. I am glad Santa Claus remembered you with things you wished for he
sureley was very thougthfull of me wich I am very thankfull for. I shall
enclose a list off what he left and off what I had him to take around for me to
my relatives & friends
No Sir
Mrs Mary Jane have not visited Abie she dont care for him at all when I spoke
to her in town she acted at first as she did not knew where he was but after
she gave herself away. she always inquire after Joseph.
No lovis
I do not think Mira Nelson wanted your addrass for Gladys as Gladys Mother got
it from me for Gladys a few days before Mira came for hers.
We have
not heard from Abie for a long time and I wonder why it is that he dont write,
none of us went to see him the last visiting day but I sent him a New Years box
and a big long letter you know I can not think off not go down to Ogden with or
on any lesser than $6 and that is more than I can afford but Grace and I have
made a date for us to go down to Ogden Feb 7 mebe we can get an understanding
how much longer Abie has to stay theere.
Grace
and Pa thinks theere is something crokied about them keeping Arthur they think
because he is big and strong and can get away with lots off work that the[y]
keep him, some off them boys thy[y] have down theere are small and punie
looking, well we will see when we go down what excuse they got this time to
keep Abie if it is only smoke they keep him for they can not do it now as he is
past 18.
yeas the
film was inclosed and I got it I thank you I shall send it back after a while.
This paper I am writting on Santa gave it to me but I can not use pen and ink
on it as it gets all in blotches.
Grace
and her children came down on Tuesday before New Years day and stayed over New
Year I tell you I was very glad she came, I started to wash on Monday the day
before she came but I could not finish as I came unwell, an very unusual think
[thing] for a woman my age I never had any pain only I felt weak, at first I
was very nerveous about it but as luck would have it sister Ormond came down
and she said she have had the same expirience of late so than it did not scare
me any more but I kept a little quite [quiet] and when Grace came she finished
the washing
how
funny that it is cold in Petaluma so you need the hot water bottle we do not
need it here yet, The sun is shining warm and clear every day the nigths are a
little cold the roads are dry and dusty, we have no snow now what little we had
a few weeks ago is all gone now.
theere
has been a few deaths since I wrote to you last and as it is just merely
aquintences you vont feel bad when I tell you. Painter Carlson is one, Orvil
Mickelsons Dad is one and you know Anna Noras sister Auntie Ida they called
her, her youngest son they one that took fits was buried yesterday. I do not
think I will have time to send the Santa Claus list and mail it to day as it is
2 35 p m now. F.O. came out and Louis and Shirly so I got stopped in writting
and got dinner for them F.O. quitt the Bakery and are having a vacation, he
surely need it.
I shall
write again soon so I will close now
Wishing
you a Happy New year With all kinds off Love and thanks for every thing,
your
Mother
C.
J. Peterson.
when you write tell me off your trips to Berkeley.
