Dearest Lovis
I am a few
days behind in writting and answering yours so kind and welcome letter but I
als been and is very buisy and this extreamely hot weather makes a person feel
just awful lazy.
I am glad
to see you are buissy to. you must feel much stronger now or else you could not
do what you says. I feel some better now then I did sometime ago I am out
picking berries quite early in the mornings I have put upp only 8 gal off
raspberrys but I have made jars off jam. I shall put upp some more fresh
raspberries this comming week. I guess your Man is back now from Monterey and I bet he is glad off it I read in a paper
about some kid off trouble that’s been at Monterey .
I hope you are both well and I wish you all the good luck in going to Petaluma .
Well Lovis
I know you think that Grace & I are now doing nothing but visiting but
honestly we dont get time to visit Grace comes down and gets a few off
theere things and then hurryes and goes
back to Preston they are sure buissy folks and the buisness is good. I have not
been up to see them yet but F.O. and Annie been upp theere twice since Gus
& Grace started.
I hear from
Abie every week he have had his hand hurt so he could not write but he has a
friend that have wrote the three last letters for him, in his last letter he
says he got a letter form you and O he was glad, O yeas Lovis we want to write
encouraging and kind letters to him often to as that is what he need it would be
bad if we would plant a revenged feeling in him or encourage it before him at
any time as I know he got it already because it would just make bad things
worst. for my part it is a very hard trial to me to act rigth to those villains
around here. Gig is not the only one Orion Follett they two faced buggar is
worst and then Louis Nilsen he sure shows his authority in a uggly way.
I think if
everything go the way we now think we shall all go to Ogden the second day in August as that is the
regular visiting day and that will be the first time for me to see him since he
went. Abie has expeckted to see me before but I been afraid I would act like a
big fool but mebe now if Grace is with me it be better for me. your Dad I
belive is worse again now he can not do anything he milks but that is all he
sits down the most off the time but I am glad so long as he got an apetite then
I know he is not so very bad as he can be or have been before.
I thank you
very much for the table cloth you sent me I know you wonder why I have not
mentioned about it before but Grace have not unpacked her trunk untill just a
few days ago and the box and one trunk is unpacked yet and is still here the
curtains did not get away very quick so theere was room for Graces things but
they are gone now. I belive Gust and Grace runn the business about two weeks
while Vurstains still lived there. You know John Vurstain dont you and that is
the same things I guess Grace has wrote and told you all. I guess thoose
neckties I asked you for is in amongst thoose things Grace have not unpacked so
I will also thank you for them.
Darold and
Irene wrote to you before the went to Preston
so I will enclose their letters. they have had a good visit here but was glad
also to go with their Parents home as they called it. Darold have had a time
playing with the chickens inspecial with the rooster. you know we have the
chickens shut upp and he would go in the runn and catch the rooster and shut
him out and Darold would sit and watch the rooster walk back and fort outside
the runn and wanted to get into the hes and then Darold laugh and laugh and say
No No old rooster you can not be in the runn with the hens you bother them so
the can not eat and lay eggs so you stay out. you old fellow. and Irene she got
her rocking chairs now but she dont sit in them much she rather runn up to
Ormonds to play with Madeline & Leprille.
